Third-row safety

Child-seat hardware in the third row

Curtain airbags cover row 3Yes
Row 3 lower anchors (LATCH)1
Row 3 top tether positions3
Row 3 seatbelt reminderYes

The cleanest safety provenance in this batch — Honda enumerates all four fields by row in its own press-kit specification sheet, corroborated by the owner's manual on techinfo.honda.com. CURTAIN = true, VERBATIM: 'Three-Row Side Curtain Airbags with Rollover Sensor', standard on all six trims. ANCHORS = 1 and TETHERS = 3 from one verbatim line: 'Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH): Lower Anchors (2nd-Row All, 3rd-Row Passenger-Side), Tether Anchors (2nd-Row All, 3rd-Row All)'. The manual's child-restraint chapter agrees: 'A tether anchor point is provided behind each second and third row seating position' (3 across), and its third-row install instructions describe a single position with no outer/centre split. REMINDER = true, VERBATIM: 'Seat Belt Reminder for all Seating Positions'. CAVEAT worth carrying into the model page: the manual's rollover passage extends automatic belt tensioning only to 'the front seats and the second row outer seats' — the curtain covers three rows, the tensioners do not. Honda also states the reminder system 'does not monitor ... the anchor buckles of the second and third row center seat belts'. CPST CONTEXT (third-party, NOT a source): Cars.com's 2024-model check found 'one set of lower anchors on the passenger side' and 'three top tether anchors on the third-row seatbacks' — matching Honda's own figures.

Hardware facts only. No U.S. crash-test programme instruments third-row occupants, so this site publishes what the vehicle has rather than a rating. Confirm against the owner's manual and sit in the vehicle before buying. Compare third-row LATCH across every model → How we source safety data →

Persona scores

Calibration in progress. Persona scoring will appear here once our editorial rubric has been applied against verified specs.

Best for

  • Headroom in the third row: 39.3 inches, the most of the family models here.
  • Buyers who want the third-row safety record documented rather than inferred — Honda enumerates curtain coverage, lower anchors and tethers by row in its own specification sheet.
  • Eight seats, with a bench or captain's chairs by trim.

Watch out for

  • Only the third row's passenger-side position has LATCH lower anchors.
  • Cargo figures here use Honda's Standard column; its Max column runs higher and is scoped to particular trims.
  • The 5,000 lb tow rating is shared with most of the family models here and bettered only by the Tahoe.
